New MAP website

Thanks once again go to our web developer Mark Allen (markallenwebdeveloper.co.uk) for a complete refresh of our website. We’re getting energised this year and we want to make a big impact with the launch of the White Walls Way. As part of this, we wanted to freshen up our web page and make admin easier…

Target for White Walls Way launch

We’re setting a provisional launch for the White Walls Way in late spring this year. Work towards delivering this project has been severely delayed by the loss of admin support from MVCAP at a crucial time. While unavoidable, it has meant that we’ve had to put work on hold until volunteers are available to carry…

Test walking of the White Walls way

We’ve now got some feedback from test walks of the White Walls Way. We need to work on some aspects of the route descriptions and consider how we will be waymarking the route.

Slow progress on the White Walls Way

With the loss of admin support from MVCAP following its loss of funding progress on the White Walls way has been moving very slowly. However, we do hope to have a provisional website available soon.

Thanks to our departing chair Martin Rea

The members of MAP would very much like to thank outgoing chair Martin Rea for all his work since the group began. Highlights under his watch have included the successful launch of the Malmesbury Bridges Walk, ongoing development of the proposed White Walls Way, and lots of initiatives to promote walking in the area. We’d…

Disappointing news

It’s been confirmed that our parent organisation MVCAP has, along with many charities in Wiltshire, lost its ongoing funding from Wiltshire Council. As a group we’ve relied heavily on MVCAP, particularly for administration, meeting room hire, minute taking, grant applications etc. We’ll have to see how this impacts on our future work.

White Walls Way route descriptions

We’ve made good progress on collecting together descriptions for the route stages. We’ll be working through these and deciding how best to deliver them in due course. Current thinking is that rather than publishing a guide, we will deliver all the materials for free download online – costs permitting.

WWW route agreed

After a lot of work and test walking of sections, we’ve finally agreed the route of the White Walls Way. It will be an approximately twenty-mile circular walk in a figure of eight shape from Malmesbury to Sherston and Luckington. We also aim to develop shorter circular walks along the route and possibly links to…
